Cornwall is a truly wonderful place, with a raft of amazing things to see and do, coupled with that special, warm Cornish welcome which will greet you every time you visit. You cannot get further west in Britain than the ancient Celtic kingdom of ‘Kernow’, and this unique and beautiful peninsula is a firm holiday favourite.
The county of Cornwall is blessed with spectacular coastline. Visit the ‘Cornish Riviera’ of St Austell Bay, which is home to such wonderful scenery between Mevagissey and the riverside town of Fowey with its literary connections. The north coast has St Ives Bay, with its golden sandy beaches.
Also on the coast are some of the Duchy's most enchanting fishing villages and harbours; Looe, Port Isaac, Portreath and Mousehole. Visit Padstow with its picturesque harbour; Falmouth, a working port and charming shopping town; or Truro, the only city in Cornwall, with its beautiful cathedral.
For industrial heritage, visit Redruth. There is also historical Penzance, where you can take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly, or walk to Marazion and St Michael's Mount. Cornwall has many stately homes to enjoy including Lanhydrock house, Prideaux Place and Pencarrow.
For beautiful gardens, visit The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project, Trelissick and Trebah. Cornwall’s ancient past is evident in the county with many megalithic monuments such as standing stones, barrows and stone circles.
