St. Buryan is an attractive village located at the heart of the West Penwith peninsula. The village is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has been a designated conservation area since 1990 and is near to many sites of special scientific interest in the surrounding area. Granite cottages cluster around its central 14th century church, which is a grade 1 listed building and its six bells are said to have the heaviest peel in the country. Agriculture is strong in St Buryan, with ploughing competitions and horse shows still a regular part of summer festivities. The parish is scattered with neolithic activity, such as the Merry Maiden stone circle, The Pipers standing stones, many burial chambers and ancient holy wells. Be sure to visit the nearby St Loy's Cove; a rocky beach which is accessed through a beautiful wooded valley.
