Hotels, Guest accommodation & Self Catering in Oban
Oban is a seaside town and port known as the Gateway to the Isles, as a number of ferries depart from its main port and travel to the islands of the Inner and Outer Hebrides. Oban is a great base for exploring castles, gardens, villages, beaches, forests, and the other many attractions of this region. Oban itself is compact and it's easy to get around on foot. There are plenty of small galleries and independent shops as well as the centrally-located local whisky distillery and museum, plus plenty of friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants, with an abundance of establishments serving local fish and shellfish. McCaig’s Tower overlooks Oban Bay and outside the town is the ruined Dunollie Castle, once the seat of Clan MacDougall. The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary is set on the shores of Loch Creran. The centre combines an aquarium with a rescue and rehabilitation facility for seal pups. It offers over 50 natural marine displays, daily talks, play park, gift shop and coffee shop.
