Aysgarth is a picturesque village in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is famous for its triple-flight waterfalls. There are some handy shops in the village, including gift shops and two public houses. The George and Dragon Inn in Aysgarth dates from the 17th century and is now a Grade II listed building. You can sample some wonderful local real ale from the Black Sheep Brewery and the Yorkshire Dales Brewing Company. Aysgarth Falls and has been the subject of works by Ruskin, Turner and Wordsworth, and the upper fall was featured in the feature film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. This is a triple flight of waterfalls on the River Ure which are fast flowing, as thousands of gallons of water cascade over the series of broad limestone steps. The area is carpeted in wild flowers in the Spring and Summer, and wild birds, squirrels and deer can often be glimpsed here.
