Kettlewell is a beautiful Dales village in Upper Wharfedale with three great pubs, a traditional village shop, an award winning tearoom, a bistro, outdoors shop, a children’s play park and an ice cream parlour. Pretty Kettlewell Beck flows through the village to join the River Wharfe and there are many small bridges crossing the river. You can take a stroll next to the gently bubbling water, or for the more energetic, cycle the quiet country lanes or try some fell-walking! The area is known for Swaledale Sheep which are farmed in the area. There are deer and areas of forestland to the south-east of the village, with an open valley to the north. In August, the village hosts a scarecrow festival where scarecrows, dressed up as different characters are placed around the village. Kettlewell represented the village of Knapely in the 2003 film ‘Calendar Girls’.
