Snuggling onto the slope of Hawnby Hill to the west of the moors, is the lovely little village of Hawnby. Surrounded by some of the prettiest landscape in North Yorkshire, the winding roads up through the village offer amazing views at every turn. Nearby, the stunning North York Moors offer plenty of fantastic trails for walking and cycling. For the more adventurous, there is the White Rose Cycle Route which offers 172 miles of cycling through some beautiful pastoral stretches between Hull and Middlesbrough via York. Alternatively, there are a range of country pursuits available in the area including riding at the nearby Bilsdale Riding centre. Hang gliding, fishing and clay pigeon shooting are also popular pastimes around the village.
