Grosmont village is situated in the North York Moors National Park and is found amongst ancient woodlands, deep river gorges rich in fossils and surrounded by the wildness of open moorland. The village has something to offer everyone with specialist shops, cafés and the steam railway. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway terminates its ever-popular steam train service here, and the locomotive sheds can be visited through one of the world's earliest passenger railway tunnels. There are many footpaths radiating out from the station, including the course of Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk. Visit Grosmont in spring when the woods are carpeted with bluebells, in summer with the spectacular heather, in autumn with trees in full colour or in winter when streams and waterfalls drip with icicles.
