Hornsea is a small seaside resort in East Yorkshire. Is has a glorious sandy beach, promenade, rich history and a peaceful nature reserve. This is a friendly town with lots of independent shops, tea rooms, pubs and eateries. The Floral Hall stages festivals, concerts, plays and dances throughout the year. Hornsea Freeport Shopping Village offers everything you might need to buy. The award-winning Hornsea Folk Museum is housed within a historic farmhouse in the town centre. Opposite the museum stands Bettison Folly, a Grade II listed building. Constable Hall, an Elizabethan mansion set in 300 acres of parkland, is also a fascinating place to spend an afternoon. Hornsea Mere is the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire. It is a centre for bird-watching and a popular attraction offering rowing, sailing, boat trips and fishing. It is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area for birds. Hornsea Mere is owned by Wassand Hall, situated to the west of the mere, which is open on selected days during the summer. Visit Hornsea in July to join the annual carnival, with stalls, rides and a fireworks display. Also, make time for the Trans Pennine Trail, which is a great place to walk, cycle and stop for a picnic lunch.
