Driffield is a market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire known as The Capital of the Wolds. Founded in Saxon times, this charming town retains much character and brings together the history and culture of the area. Explore Burton Agnes, an Elizabethan stately home, or the 110ft tower of All Saints Church. As well as two weekly markets every Thursday and Saturday, and an award-winning farmers market held on the first Saturday morning of the month, the town holds regular antique auctions and has plenty of interesting shops, cafes, bars and restaurants in its Victorian buildings and side streets. The canal and its three becks characterise the town and form the basis of some lovely walks. Take a leisurely walk to Moot Hill and the site of a Roman settlement.
Driffield hosts a wide range of events and exhibitions throughout the year, including the famous Agricultural Show in July. July is also the Festival Week which culminates in a colourful parade through the streets with decorated floats. In August, the Annual Traction Rally is a huge attraction with a cavalcade of machines driving through the town, along with vintage vans and lorries.
