Redditch is a town in north-east Worcestershire, approximately 15 miles south of Birmingham. Part of the town dates back centuries, whilst many areas and road layouts were laid out as part of a New Town in the 1960s. There are excellent transport links, with the M42 running very close to the town and the M40 to London not far away. As a New Town, it has an excellent range of facilities with a large purpose-built shopping centre called The Kingfisher Centre, and it also retains a pedestrianised square centred around the church. Redditch is home to several historical sites such as The National Needle Museum, ruins of 11th century Bordesley Abbey and the remains of a medieval moated settlement of Moons Moat. Arrow Valley Country Park with its 900 acres has a large lake in the centre, popular for sailing, fishing and water sports. Other features of the town include a new cinema with 7 screens and Abbey Stadium with extensive sporting facilities.
