Droitwich Spa is a town in Worcestershire, nestled on the River Salwarpe. The town is situated on massive deposits of salt, and salt has been extracted here since ancient times. The natural Droitwich brine is ten times stronger than sea water and rivalled only by the Dead Sea! September sees the Droitwich Spa Salt Festival, a weekend of salt festivities and entertainment! The Droitwich Spa Heritage and Information Centre consists of a Tourist Information Centre and a permanent local history exhibition. The town has a great range of leisure activities available, including guided walks and two Green Flag parks. Droitwich Spa Lido is one of the UK’s few remaining open-air saltwater swimming pools, including a 40-metre pool, wet play area, sun terraces and a café. The Droitwich canal network is a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. There are also many shops to peruse with various markets that regularly take place in the town.
