Waterhouses is a village in the south of the Staffordshire Peak District. It is around 8 miles from Leek and Ashbourne, being nearly the halfway point between the towns on the A523 road, which roughly follows the southern boundary of the Peak District National Park. It is near to Alton Towers Theme Park and Resort and is a popular place for visitors to the area, offering a doorway to the Peak District with its breath-taking views and fantastic opportunities for cycling, walking and wildlife watching. The village is popular with tourists and has many great amenities available, including a public house, a local Post Office, swimming pool, off licence / convenience shop and a cafe. The Manifold Way provides a shared walking and cycling path. Follow the River Manifold and the River Hamps through the Manifold Valley. The path runs from Waterhouses to Hulme End along a former railway line with beautiful scenery to enjoy.
