Kington is a rural market town in Herefordshire, near the border with Wales. The town’s beautiful High Street has cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops, including the UK’s only traditional master clog maker. Kington has a range of historical buildings, including the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, which overlooks the town. Visitors can enjoy an interesting guided town heritage walk. Kington is also part of the Black and White Village Trail, linking together a series of Herefordshire villages with timber-framed buildings. Other local attractions include Kington Golf Club, England’s highest 18-hole course, and Hergest Croft, a Victorian mansion with 70-acres of beautiful gardens. Kington carries ‘Walkers Are Welcome’ status and sits on the Offa’s Dyke Path, Mortimer Trail, Arrow Valley Trail, Herefordshire Trail and Wyche Way. The town hosts its own walking festival every September. Kington is also set in excellent cycling, mountain biking and horse riding country, taking you along quiet countryside lanes and peaceful off-road bridleways.
