Newborough or Niwbwrch is a village in the south-western corner of the Isle of Anglesey with views across to Snowdonia. A great holiday destination, the village provides many attractions for visitors, including Newborough Warren, one of the largest areas of sand dunes found in the British Isles, and Newborough Forest, a 2,000-acre woodland, popular for horse riding, walking and cycling. Much of the area around Newborough has been declared a nature reserve, making it ideal for those interested in geology, botany, birds and other wildlife, including red squirrels. There is an expansive sandy Blue Flag beach at Llanddwyn, which provides access to Ynys Llanddwyn, a mile-long rocky promontory. The remains of the 16th century church of Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers, is located on the island. Traeth Llanddwyn is also a popular kitesurfing and paddle boarding location. Just outside the village, on the B4419 towards Llangaffo, is Tacla Taid, the Anglesey Transport and Agriculture Museum, which is the largest of its kind in Wales.
