Penmaenmawr, on the North Wales coast, is a historic quarrying town and seaside resort named after Penmaenmawr Mountain, which stands immediately west of the town. Nearby are the popular attractions of Sychnant Pass and Conwy Mountain and the town also lies partly within Snowdonia National Park. The seafront has a long promenade, café, paddling pool, children’s playground, amusement arcades, skate park and beach huts. The ‘Blue Flag’ sandy beach has views across to Anglesey and Puffin Island and is perfect for beach holidays and watersports. Penmaenmawr is also a popular walking and mountain biking centre. Trails lead upwards into the hills crossed by Roman roads and are dotted with historic sites including an Iron Age Hillfort, Druid’s Circle and Stone Age axe quarry. Penmaenmawr Museum highlights the town’s story from prehistoric times to the modern day. Parc Plas Mawr is a beautiful local park and other amenities include shops, pubs, eateries and a golf course with sea views. Graiglwyd Springs Trout Fishery is located on a hillside above Penmaenmawr and is well-known for its fly-fishing.
