Beddgelert is a village in the heart of Snowdonia National Park in a valley of the confluence of the River Glaslyn and River Colwyn. In the centre of the village is the old stone bridge with 2 arches. Legend has it that the village was named after the legendary hound Gelert, and you can visit the site of Gelerts Grave in the village. Beddgelert has shops, pubs, restaurants and the main car park in the village provides the easiest access route for climbing Moel Hebog, the mountain which directly overlooks the village. Part of the Welsh Highland Railway runs through the village, linking Beddgelert with Porthmadog and Caernarfon.

The picturesque stone-built village is the ideal base for exploring all the classic sights and beauty spots such as Aberglaslyn Pass to the south, Nat Gwynant to the east, Snowdon to the north. Nearby Rhyd Ddu, connected by a walking / cycling path, is a starting point for a walk to the summit of Snowdon. A popular family attraction is the Sygun Copper Mine. National Trust’s Craflwyn Estate is opposite Sygun on the road to Nant Gwynant. Both Craflwyn and the local tourist information centre have exhibitions on the Princes of Gwynedd. The village is also linked with the Rupert Bear stories as Alfred Bestall wrote and illustrated some of the stories whilst he lived in the village.
