Port Talbot is a town in south Wales. This town has honed the ancient industry of iron and steelmaking over hundreds of years and is famous for its steelworks, one of the largest in the world. There are great shopping opportunities in the town including many major chains and supermarkets, plus a variety of restaurants, pubs and cafés. Aberavon beach has 3 miles of sandy beach and a flat promenade popular with cyclists and walkers. The wide sandy beach has views across Swansea Bay to Mumbles and you will see many surfers, jet skiers, windsurfers and kite surfers. It is also safe for swimming, kayaking and boating. The promenade is part of the Sustrans Route 4 long-distance cycling route. Margam Park and Gardens in the town dates from the 19th century with 1920's restored Japanese gardens and the exhilarating attraction Go Ape. There is world class mountain biking and many hillwalking trails at Afan Forest Park, where you will also find The South Wales Miners' Museum.
