Somerset is a county in south-west England, famous for its natural beauty, history and culture, making it a wonderful destination for a holiday. It is predominantly a rural county, with many different and very beautiful landscapes to explore. This includes the Blackdown, Mendip and Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, which are all Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Somerset Levels and Moors is a unique landscape; one of the most important inland wetlands in Britain. This distinctive landscape is home to a diverse range of wildlife and an abundance of wildflowers. Cheddar Gorge is a dramatic natural feature and largest gorge in Britain, and the spectacular Wookey Hole Caves are a series of limestone caverns which must be seen. The Somerset coastline, over 60 kilometres long, is filled with spectacular scenery, golden sandy beaches, areas of geological fascination, coastal paths, harbours, marinas and resorts such as Weston-Super-Mare, Minehead and Burnham-on-Sea where you can enjoy a traditional English bucket and spade holiday and lots of fun!

Somerset boasts some beautiful market towns and villages with places to shop, mouth-watering local produce and one or two Somerset Cider Farms! Taunton, the county town, offers excellent shopping and leisure facilities. The small, yet thriving, market town of Glastonbury, famous for its annual music festival, has the remains of one of the greatest abbeys in England. Somerset is also home to the smallest city in England, Wells, which has a stunning cathedral. The city of Bath, the largest city in Somerset, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its Georgian architecture and is the only place in the UK where you can bathe in naturally hot spring water and visit 2000-year-old original Roman Baths.
