Moreton-in-Marsh is a town in north-eastern Gloucestershire. It is located at the crossroads of the Fosse Way Roman road and the A44. It is served by Moreton-in-Marsh railway station on the Cotswold Line. This is a traditional Cotswold market town. Its broad High Street is lined with elegant 17th and 18th century buildings, among them the White Hart Royal, a former manor house in which King Charles I sheltered during the Civil War. Every Tuesday Moreton-in-Marsh hosts the largest open-air street market in the Cotswolds. It is also the venue for a one-day agricultural show held in September. There are antique shops, tea rooms, restaurants and inns. East of Moreton is the Four Shires Stone, which marks the old meeting point of the four counties of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire. Nearby attractions include Batsford Arboretum, Cotswold Falconry, Bourton House Garden and the Sezincote Estate Gardens, which can be reached by local footpaths including the Moreton Eight trail.
