Wotton-under-Edge is a historic market town in Gloucestershire, located near the southern end of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Standing on the B4058 road, Wotton is about 5 miles from the M5 motorway making it easily accessible. The town is surrounded by hills and woodland and is an excellent base for walking in the Cotswolds. The ever-popular 102-mile Cotswold Way long-distance footpath passes through the town. Wotton can also be found on the Berkeley Circular Route, part of the 7-day Circular Cycling Tour of the Cotswolds. The heart of Wotton-under-Edge has been well preserved and the main street has a variety of independent shops. The Heritage Centre provides an insight into the town’s history, as well as tourist information. Other attractions include the Wotton Electric Picture House, an all-digital cinema. There is a community arts centre, a busy auction room and an open-air swimming pool, open in summer. Attractions near Wotton include the National Trust’s Newark Park, Slimbridge WWT Wetland Centre, Berkeley Castle, Cattle Country Adventure Park and Westonbirt Arboretum.
