Studland is a small village located on a peninsula in south Purbeck and sited in the lee of Ballard Down, close to the east-facing Studland Bay, a long curved sweep of sandy beaches backed by dunes and heathland. The beaches are named South Beach, Middle Beach and Knoll Beach, with another at Shell Bay to the north. These beaches are amongst the most popular in the country. The start of the South West Coast Path is found at Shell Bay. Old Harry Rocks are three chalk formations located at Handfast Point marking the most easterly point of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is an easy, short walk from Studland to Old Harry. There are a number of places to eat out and shop in the village. Just under 2 miles away, you can join the Rempstone Ride cycle route across heath and forest; then you can jump on a vintage train for a trip to Swanage. The Sandbanks Ferry is the easiest way to access Poole and Bournemouth from Studland, travelling across the mouth of Poole Harbour.
