The only town in the UK with a name that ends in an exclamation mark, Westward Ho! is popular with travellers. The town offers a selection of cafes and restaurants and Hockings Ice Cream is highly recommended! The big attraction is the beach, with Westward Ho!'s golden sands stretching for nearly two miles, perfect for families and also popular with surfers, kite surfers and wind surfers. It enjoys Blue Flag status and a RNLI Lifeguard service between May and September. The beach is backed by Westward Ho!'s famous pebble ridge, which provides protection for Northam Burrows Country Park. The Burrows are a great place for a walk, where you will find the oldest golf club in England and Wales, The Royal North Devon Golf Club. Westward Ho! is perfect for walkers and cyclists. The Tarka Trail is nearby whilst the South West Coast Path will take you through the village and onto Kipling Tors.
