Bolney is a charming village in West Sussex, 36 miles south of London and 11 miles north of Brighton. At the heart of the village is the church of St Mary Magdalene which partly dates from the 12th century. At the top end of the village in Top Street, there is the Bolney Village Chapel. Historically, the village was in two parts. The main village was clustered around the church and to the north there was the common. The friendly village pub is called The Eight Bells in reference to the set of bells in the village church. The village has a relatively high number of listed properties which are of historical and / or architectural importance. Bolney Wine Estate, a vineyard close to the A23, is open for tours and tastings. It has a shop and wonderful vineyard cafe serving homemade, local food.
