Chale is a village on the Isle of Wight located at the foot of St. Catherine's Down, a chalk down near the southernmost point on the island. The Down rises to 240 metres, and upon the hill is St. Catherine’s Oratory lighthouse known as The Pepperpot. In Chale itself, there is the 14th century St Andrew’s church and the 100-year-old Chale Green Stores. The Chale Show in August is one of the favourite summer events on the island. Paragliding, walking and cycling are very popular in the area, but you can also catch the seasonal Island Coaster bus taking in the best of the scenery including Tennyson Down, Alum Bay and the Needles. Visit Blackgang Chine Theme Park with its magical rides and theme worlds of Cowboy Town, Pirate Cove, Fairy Land, Fantasy Land and Nursery Land. Kids will love the Restricted Area 5 with its life-size animatronic dinosaurs.
