Hotels, Guest accommodation, Self Catering & Camping in Hastings
Hastings is a town in south-east England famously known for the 1066 Battle of Hastings, fought on a nearby field. The Norman ruins of Hastings Castle overlook the English Channel. Hastings main beach is backed by grand Edwardian hotels and a two-layered promenade. There is even a fine Victorian pier. Hastings comprises the Old Town, with its half-timbered houses, narrow streets and passageways; the bustling town centre; and St Leonards, featuring classical architecture, antique shops and vintage galleries. East along the shingle seafront, Hastings Fishermens Museum and Shipwreck Museum document maritime history. The Jerwood Gallery shows contemporary art. Next to the museums are the impressive Net Huts and Hastings Fish Market. See smuggling heritage at Smugglers Adventure and below, you will find Pelham Beach. Hastings Country Park is 660 acres of ancient woodland, grassland and heathland. You can reach the country park by taking the steepest funicular railway in Britain.
