Ditchling is a village contained within the South Downs National Park. Brighton is just 7 miles to the south and Lewes is 7 miles to the east. The village lies in East Sussex, but is very close to the border with West Sussex. It is popular with walkers, cyclists, travellers and art lovers. The village has welcoming pubs, tearooms and farm shops aplenty. Ditchling Beacon, one of the highest points on the South Downs, overlooks the village. Ditchling Common Country Park covers 188 acres and is a popular site for walking, fishing, picnicking and bird watching. Both of the two ponds can be fished, with the necessary permissions. Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft is dedicated to the display and preservation of art and craft produced by artists associated with the village. Both Court Garden and Ridgeview Vineyards produce English sparkling wines and are open for sales, tastings and tours.
