Roy Bridge is a small village at the confluence of the River Roy and River Spean in the area known as Glen Spean; a place of significant history and beauty. It is ideally placed to provide a touring base for the Scottish Highlands and has a good range of accommodation on offer. The village retains a post office, village hall, inns and shops. Roy Bridge lies 3 miles east of Spean Bridge in Glen Spean which is an area of geological interest and history. The West Highland Line railway linking Glasgow and Fort William passes close by with train stations at Tulloch, Roy Bridge and Spean Bridge. Just north of Roy Bridge is Tulloch, and then the Loch Laggan reservoir, part of the RioTinto Alcan Hydro Scheme and a great place to go fishing. Not too far from Roy Bridge are the Parallel Roads in Glen Roy, an interesting geological example of past glaciation in the Highlands. Beyond Roy Bridge at the north-east end of Loch Laggan, a huge inland freshwater loch, is the land of Monarch of the Glen. This route is a good day out to visit the Spey Valley, Inverness, Culloden, Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness, Spean Bridge from Fort William.
