Carrbridge is a bustling village about 7 miles north of Aviemore. It is a gateway to the spectacular Cairngorms National Park. The most famous landmark in Carrbridge is the old packhorse bridge, built in 1717, which is the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands. Spectacular forests, moorland and mountains surround the village as well as a great network of paths and tracks offering fine views, a rich local history and abundant wildlife. The local pine forests are home to Scottish crossbills, rare crested tits, red squirrels and deer. Landmark Forest Adventure Park is set in an ancient pine forest at the south end of the village. It has a variety of attractions, including a wild water coaster, steam powered saw mill and the Treetop Trail. Golfers are catered for in Carrbridge with a challenging 9-hole golf course. The village also has a pony trekking centre and a bowling green. The village famously plays host to 2 popular annual competitions; The World Porridge Making Championship and the Carve Carrbridge Chainsaw Carving Competition, with entrants and spectators from all over the world. The village is also known for its traditional and contemporary music and eclectic programme of events including the annual Carrbridge Live Art and Music Festival.
