Centred on the sheltered shore of Loch nan Ceall on the west coast, Arisaig is a pretty village boasting superb scenery. The landscape is characterised by a rocky coast, blue seas and white sand. Offshore islets are home to seals, sea-birds, and small fishing boats. The views out to the islands of Rum and Eigg are simply awe-inspiring, especially at sunset, and you can travel to the islands. Tickets are purchased from the newly built Harbour Office which also houses a small tea room and gift shop. The Land, Sea and Islands Visitor Centre is in a stunning location in the heart of Arisaig village. It houses fascinating, hands-on displays of local social and natural history. The well-stocked craft and bookshop carries some locally-made items, and also sells seasonal local produce. Just outside Arisaig village, the gardens of Larach Mor on the Arisaig Estate offer lovely walks. Set in the grounds of Glen House, this 28-acre woodland garden was planted by John Augustus Holms.
