Muir of Ord is a charming village in the Scottish Highlands, situated near the western boundary of the Black Isle, about 15 miles west of Inverness. It is famous for being the home of Glen Ord Distillery, the only remaining single malt scotch whisky distillery on the Black Isle. The distillery offers a range of tours, whisky-tasting and an excellent visitor centre. Muir of Ord golf course is an 18-hole course with clear views of Ben Wyvis to the north and Beauly Firth and hills above Loch Ness to the south. The Inverness to Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh railway line runs through the course adding to the need for accuracy on a number of holes! Wildlife abounds on the course and players regularly see red kites soaring up above. The Club is part of the James Braid Highland Golf Trail which has 7 member clubs located in the North of Scotland. Visit the Highlands Original Outdoor Adventure Centre in Muir of Ord and choose from a wide range of activities including Paintball, Bubble Football, Aerial Runway, Lazertag, Impact Archery, Walk on Water Balls, Abseiling, Canoeing, Zorbing and lots more. The Black Isle Show is one of the largest agricultural shows in Scotland, held every August in the village, attracting lots of visitors.
