Hotels, Guest accommodation & Self Catering in Taynuilt
Taynuilt, in Argyll and Bute, is a large village located at the western entrance to the Pass of Brander and at the foot of Ben Cruachan, between Loch Etive and Loch Awe, 12 miles from Oban. Amenities in the village include a village hall, a tearoom, inn, post office and various shops. A popular attraction is the Bonawe Iron Furnace, where an exhibition charts the development of the furnace up until its closure in 1876 and explains the chemistry behind iron making. Visitors can see inside the charcoal sheds and admire the furnace. Day trips up and down the loch are available to see seals on the Anne of Etive. Taynuilt Golf Club, immediately to the northwest of the village, enjoys scenic views over Airds Bay. About 4 miles away is Inverawe Fisheries, Smokery and Country Park. Here, you can find out about smoking foods, buy its produce, and then enjoy them in a picnic in the country park!
