Bridge of Orchy is a small village in Argyll and Bute, a few miles north of Tyndrum on the road to Glencoe and Fort William. Nestled at the head of Glen Orchy in the Central Highlands, the village is on the A82 road, has its own railway station and is on the West Highland Way long distance path, Scotland's first and most popular long distance walking route. Explore sheltered Glen Orchy where Rob Roy's mother was born, and discover the most southerly remnants of Scotland's ancient Caledonian Forest. For climbers, nearby prominent peaks include the Munros (Scottish mountains with a height over 3,000 feet) of Beinn Dorian and Beinn an Dothaidh, which tower over the village to the east. Bridge of Orchy is popular with canoeists, kayakers and white water rafters seeking the thrills of the falls and rapids on the River Orchy. The river is also one of the most picturesque salmon fishing rivers in the country, with the season running from mid-February to the end of October.
