Hotels, Guest accommodation & Self Catering in Isle of Bute
The Isle of Bute is an island in the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. It is divided into highland and lowland areas by the Highland Boundary Fault and linked by ferry to the mainland. It is one of the most accessible Scottish islands. The only town on the island, Rothesay, is a bustling place with attractions including Rothesay Castle and Mount Stuart stately home. Close to the island's southern-most tip, in an attractive setting, are the substantial ruins of the medieval St Blanes Church, built in the 1200s. The interior of the island is hilly and Loch Fad is Bute's largest body of freshwater, stocked with pike and brown trout, and available to visiting fishermen. The western side of Bute is known for its beaches, many of which enjoy fine views over the Sound of Bute towards Arran and Inchmarnock. The Kyles of Bute is one of the most stunning areas of coastal scenery in Argyll. The island is a haven for walking, cycling, fishing and wildlife.
