Shorthorn Cottage

Set in rural East Sussex, around a mile away from the small hamlet of Vines Cross, Shorthorn Cottage provides a wonderful choice for a holiday break. Ideal for families, sleeping up to 7 in 3 bedrooms, and also dog-friendly, this holiday home is a perfect base for relaxation, walking, visiting the coast or enjoying the vineyards and historic houses of the region. Hosts Chris and Gina Cleverley offer a very warm welcome.

Shorthorn Cottage is a beautifully-converted former cow byre dating back some 150 years. Guests will find a stable door leading into the spacious living room with high beamed ceilings, 2 large sofas, a rectangular dining table and warming log burner. The well-equipped kitchen is divided from the sitting area and includes an electric oven, grill and hob, large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine.

A spacious hallway leads to 2 bedrooms and the main bathroom. Bedroom 1 is a double with a recently-fitted en suite shower room. Bedroom 2 is a cosy twin bedded room. The main bathroom has a bath with over bath shower, wash basin and WC. A wooden staircase with rope handrail in the sitting area leads to Bedroom 3, containing 3 single beds (1 trundle) and a vaulted ceiling. This room has no door, but is private.

To the front is an enclosed garden with patio and picnic table. Additional garden chairs, a parasol and BBQ are stored in the adjoining barn. There is also a washing line and tumble dryer. The towns of Heathfield and Hailsham are 10 minutes away by car; with shops, supermarkets and places to eat. Glyndebourne Opera House is only 25 minutes. Eastbourne is also a short drive away and the cottage is less than an hour from Brighton.
