The Highland Drove Inn

Expect a warm welcome at The Highland Drove Inn in Great Salkeld. Dating back to the 1700s as a haven for drovers walking their cattle from the Scottish Highlands to the towns of Northern England, today, it has been transformed into a contemporary inn with a friendly bar, great homecooked food and very comfortable guest rooms.

Our bedrooms are decorated to a high standard to offer a cosy place to rest after a long day and we have replaced the old straw beds which the drovers used to sleep on! You will find sumptuous mattresses, fresh crisp linen, en suite facilities, a TV and refreshment trays. Breakfast is included.

Relax in the bar with a beverage or two and join in the local banter or play a game of pool. The Inn serves a range of classic dishes, made with fresh local ingredients. Try something from the grill, one of our specials, steak and ale pie, beer battered haddock and hand cut chips, award-winning Cumberland sausage with creamy mash, duck breast, a sharing latter and much more. We happily cater for vegetarians and other diets.
