City Guest House

The 4-Star City Guest House in Monkgate, York was built in the 1840s, sited on what used to be part of the Roman Garrison. Monkgate is one of the widest streets in York. Now part of the Inner Ring Road, it was one of the main access routes to the city through Monkgate Bar, the tallest of the four city gates, sited 230 yards from our front door. We are 250 metres from the city wall, ancient streets, city centre shops and a variety of very good restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes.

Your hosts Allan and Julie Smith present clean and comfortable guest rooms. Room One is a basic first floor double, with shower and separate private WC. Room Two is a first floor double with en suite shower. Room Three is a first floor double with en suite shower. Room Four has a double and single bed and en suite shower. Room Five is a small ground floor double with en suite shower. Room Six is a height-restricted family attic room with a double and single bed with en suite bath facilities. Room Seven, a first floor single, has an en suite shower. All rooms have hospitality tray, TV, hairdryer, radio alarm and trouser press. A complimentary breakfast is provided in the morning with plenty of choice. We look forward to seeing you soon!
