Britt Valley Campground, on the banks of the River Brit, provides a welcoming and relaxed place to stay, in West Bay, near the town of Bridport. The area is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Just a 5-minute walk from the beach and South West Coast Path, it provides no-frills camping in a quiet and scenic setting.
Open July to September; caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and tents are welcome on the 2 electric-free river-adjacent fields. Accessed via a barrier, it is safe and secure, with dogs allowed. Guests will find WCs and showers, and a convenience store and launderette opposite the road. There is a minimum 2 night’s stay on a Friday.
West Bay has a harbour, cafés, independent shops and a gallery. Go for a stroll around the harbour with an ice cream or fish and chips, climb the coast path up to the top of the cliffs, hire a rowing boat up the River Brit or join a fishing trip out from the harbour. Bridport is a mile-and-a-half away, providing plenty more amenities.
