The Smiddy at Burnside Croft

The Smiddy at Burnside Croft is a luxurious self-catering holiday cottage on the Isle of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides. Visit Scotland 5-Star rated, the property was converted from a former blacksmith’s workshop and provides panoramic views across machair and is within walking distance to 3 miles of sandy Atlantic beach.

The cottage is on ground floor level, with a category 2 (assisted) rating for wheelchair users. The open plan living area includes underfloor heating, a sofa, TV, gas stove, music system, kitchen and dining table. The bedroom can be arranged as a super king or with twin beds, and the en suite includes a Whirlpool Jacuzzi bath.

The small studio / viewing room, with a telescope, is perfect for budding artists, writers or stargazers. There is also a dishwasher, washer / dryer and wet room in the utility. Free Wifi and underfloor heating are available throughout the house. Outside is an enclosed garden, parking and secure storage for bikes / equipment.

Berneray is the largest and only populated island in the Sound of Harris. It is linked to the neighbouring island of North Uist by a causeway.
