West Shaird

West Shaird is a spacious farmhouse situated on the west coast of South Ronaldsay in the Orkney Islands, just 3 miles from the village of St Margaret’s Hope. Set on a working farm, surrounded by open fields and overlooking Sandwick Bay, this accommodation provides a scenic and comfortable self-catering holiday home.

Sleeping up to 6 people, there is a sitting room with leather suite and open fire, a living room / diner with dining table, high backed chairs and a wood-burning stove; plus a well-equipped modern kitchen. Guests will also find a double bedroom, a twin, room with bunk beds, upstairs shower room and downstairs wet room.

Wifi is provided. A garden area is available both front and back featuring a large lawn, picnic table, lockable shed for the storage of equipment, plus parking. The beach is a 5-minute walk and there are many scenic walks and cycling trails on the island. Visitors might even get to see the Aurora Borealis in the night sky!

The peaceful village of St. Margaret’s Hope, known locally as ‘The Hope’ or ‘The Hup’, offers a golf course, tennis court, bowling green, playpark, soft play, museum, The Workshop Loft and Gallery, and a selection of local shops and places to eat and drink. There is also a bus stop and the ferry terminal for Pentland Ferries.
