Orkney Retreats comprise 2 beautiful holiday cottages on a working farm in Backaskaill on Sanday Island. This unspoilt island in the Orkneys provides an extensive sandy beach just a short walk from the farm and the accommodation is surrounded by views across the bay and open countryside, providing a peaceful and tranquil location, ideal for exploring archaeological sites, sightseeing, wildlife-watching and a host of outdoors activities.

Backaskaill Farmhouse is a 19th century B-listed farmhouse offering self-catering accommodation for 6 people. On the ground floor is a kitchen / dining room, a utility / WC / shower room, plus a master suite. A stunning hallway and staircase leads to the first floor where guests will find a living room with panoramic bay views and a multi-fuel stove. There are 2 further bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as an enclosed garden area.

Backaskaill Cottage is the former farmworkers’ cottage which has been beautifully converted to offer accommodation for 2 people. This property has a large living room, with room for an extra bed if required, a conservatory, a kitchen / diner, a double bedroom with en suite shower room facilities and a private lawned garden. Both of the cottages can be booked separately or together for groups of up to 10 guests.
