The Fossil Tree Bed & Breakfast

The Fossil Tree Bed and Breakfast is a welcoming place to stay in Stanhope in picturesque Weardale. Built in the late 18th century as the hunting lodge to the castle, looking across to the remains of the 300-million-year-old fossil tree and the local church, it is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful area by foot, car or bike.

All 3 of the guest rooms are comfortably furnished, offering en suite facilities, a TV , DVD player, Wifi, hairdryer and refreshment tray for making tea and coffee. There is a twin room, a double room and a triple bedroom, plus a comfortable lounge for guests to use. Highchairs and cots can also be provided if required.

A cooked breakfast will be served in the dining room in the morning, with special diets happily accommodated with prior notice. There is a lock-up for bicycles, with regular buses to Bishop Auckland passing the B and B. A hub for outdoors activities, Stanhope is a bustling market town at the heart of the Durham Dales.
