Cathair Dhubh Estate offers 5 self-catering holiday homes in a secluded and rugged setting of Sutherland on the west coast of Scotland. Meaning ‘Black Chair’ in Gaelic, derived from the dramatic geological features in these 80 acres of open countryside with views across Achmelvich Bay, it is ideally placed for those following the famous NC500 Route or people who enjoy the outdoors. The fishing village of Lochinver is approximately 4 miles away.

Fern, Orchid, Myrtle and Thistle Cottages all sleep 4 and the larger Heather Cottage sleeps 6, including a ground floor double bedroom with patio doors and 2 twin en suite rooms. Each cottage has an open plan living area with patio doors, a kitchen, satellite TV, DVD player, basic Wifi access, central heating and double glazing. There is seating outside each cottage, plus car parking. Well-behaved dogs are most welcome at Cathair Dhubh.

The secluded cove at Altan Abradhan is a 10-minute walk away from the accommodation and the sandy shores of Vestey’s beach are a 15 to 20-minute walk. Wild swimming opportunities are found just 5 minutes away on the estate. Many of our guests come to walk and this location offers access to the peaks of Assynt's ‘munros’ and the coastal paths. The area also has cycling, fishing, boating, watersports and wildlife-spotting opportunities.
