The Altnaharra Hotel

The Altnaharra Hotel is a 17th century former drovers inn and sporting lodge in a scenic Highland village setting near Lairg. Offering luxurious bedrooms and self-catering cottages, located near Loch Naver and surrounded by glorious open countryside, the accommodation is close to the National Cycle Route 1 from Lands’ End to John O’Groats and a haven for those who enjoy outdoors pursuits.

The 14 bedrooms in the main hotel are stylishly furnished with fine Scottish fabrics. There are double and twin rooms with en suite facilities, including a complimentary breakfast in the morning. The 2 self-catering cottages have been sensitively converted from former barns to provide a host of modern amenities to comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests. The LEJOG cabin provides budget accommodation in the grounds of the hotel, with 3 single bedrooms and a shared bathroom.

All guests can enjoy meals served in the restaurant and bar area of the hotel. The Altnaharra Hotel has its own private stretch of the River Mudale, and can also arrange fishing on a number of other rivers including The Strathmore, the Naver and The Borgie. In addition, there are numerous lochs for wild brown trout fishing. Boats are available to hire. Facilities at the hotel include a drying room, and we are well stocked with tackle and equipment, should you wish to buy or hire some.
