The Roast Ox Inn

The Roast Ox Inn is situated in the small village of Painscastle and is believed to date back to the 16th century as a cattle drover’s inn. This friendly pub offers spectacular countryside views, a bar, restaurant and rooms. Hosts Tony and Julie provide a warm welcome to this dog-friendly pub.

All 8 guest bedrooms are comfortably furnished with their own en suite shower room facilities, complimentary toiletries, a television and super king size beds which can also be arranged as 2 singles. Some of the rooms allow dogs. A complimentary breakfast is included in overnight stays.

The bar and restaurant are open most evenings and for Sunday lunches, serving local ales and home cooked meals. Dogs are welcome in the bar. There is an outside seating area and car park. Painscastle lies between Builth and Hay-on-Wye, about 3 miles from the Wales-England border.
