The White Horse Inn

The White Horse Inn is a Grade II listed building dating from the 18th century in the West Sussex village of Sutton, 5 miles south of Petworth. This free house with a welcoming bar, terrace and excellent food also offers Visit England 5-Star rated guest accommodation in the heart of the South Downs National Park. There is also a free car park.

The Inn has 5 bedrooms in the main building and a further 3 in the Garden Lodge. Each room is unique and named after horses that have raced at Goodwood Racecourse. Sea The Stars and Dubawi are interconnected and dogs are allowed in the Garden Lodge rooms. All bedrooms are equipped with king size or twin beds, handcrafted and filled with dried lavender for a good night’s sleep; plus en suite facilities, underfloor heating and comfortable seating.

In the bar, sample a range of real ales, lagers and ciders, many from Sussex, including brews from Arundel and Langham, as well as an excellent wine list. Food-wise, Head Chef Jonny Trent and his kitchen team create seasonal menus that make the most of carefully selected local produce from quality suppliers, whether for a Sunday roast, traditional pub meal or à la carte dish.
