The Smugglers

A warm welcome awaits travellers at Ye Olde Smugglers Inne. A 14th century inn steeped in history, we are located in the village of Alfriston, serving award winning local and guest ales, bottled beers, lager, a selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks, complimented by a great traditional food menu. Apart from the spacious bar and dining area, we have a conservatory, terrace and garden. The Smugglers also hosts a vibrant monthly programme of events and live music.

Each of the 4 guest bedrooms has a connection to the history of the inn. Stanton Collins is an elegant king size room with stylish French décor, named after the head of a gang of smugglers that stayed in the inn. Harvey is named after the local brewery established since the 18th century and has a 4-poster bed, plus an extra bed. The Cosy is a twin room which was once the hideaway for smugglers, and finally, Slanting is a king size room with the original slanting floorboards and stunning views across the Downs. All have en suite facilities, complimentary toiletries, a TV and refreshment tray. Breakfast is served in the conservatory in the morning to help start the day.
