The Arundell

The Arundell Arms is an old coaching inn with a fantastic restaurant and bar located in the village of Lifton, near Dartmoor. Just on the Devon side of the Tamar, the village has two of the Tamar’s tributaries running through it and is a fantastic base to explore both Devon and Cornwall. The Arundell has its own well-renowned fly-fishing school, together with 22 miles of wild fishing on the fly for wild brown trout, sea trout and the occasional salmon! Day tickets, guiding, tuition and equipment and tackle hire are all available to book.

The region also offers a wealth of opportunity for activities and with the new Tamara Way Coast to Coast walk running through the village, we are the perfect base for this stunning walk. We are also just 4 miles from the canoeing, kayaking or paddleboarding on Roadford Lake, 17 miles from the stunning North Cornwall coast and only 8 miles from the austere beauty of Dartmoor with its endless opportunities for walking, cycling and horse-riding.

The Arundell has 16 Tesla superchargers in the carpark, which are open to all EVs with an integrated card payment device and a lovely deli offering light bites, picnics, snacks and artisanal grocers. We also have fantastic facilities for corporate guests. Our conference room provides seating for up to 100 delegates and we also offer smaller meeting rooms and team building activities. Delegate packages range from a day rate, including a buffet lunch to an overnight package including dinner.

The comfortable, well-appointed bedrooms are in the main building or the former coach house, which offers our dog-friendly rooms. The Fishing Cottage is also available for self-catering, with a double and twin bedroom, sitting room, kitchen and bathroom. Guests can enjoy our 2 rosette, award-winning restaurant with a seasonal menu, which includes locally reared game, fresh line-caught fish and vegetarian and vegan dishes. We are a fabulous venue for weddings and private events, with a wonderful restaurant, a separate bar, a cosy fire-side lounge and an English country garden.
