Fox & Hounds Country Hotel

The Fox and Hounds Country Hotel, on the banks of the River Taw, is a 19th century former coaching inn offering a scenic and peaceful setting mid-way between Exeter and Barnstable, and also situated along the Tarka Trail. There is ample free car parking available. Weddings, conferences and special events can be accommodated and there is an on-site fly fishing school.

Choose from Compact Double, Standard, Superior, Family Rooms and Suites. Three rooms are on the ground floor for guests with disabilities. Each has en suite facilities, Wifi, TV, hairdryer and beverage tray. The elegant Heywood Suite or Treetops Luxury Treehouse for 4, have their own kitchenette area and can be booked for self-catering. Dogs are allowed in designated rooms.

The Restaurant serves traditional homemade classics to speciality sharing platters, all using Devon’s finest produce. There is also a menu for children. The Restaurant Lounge offers a relaxed dining area or the Garden Terrace is perfect for a drink. Our bar offers a choice of local ciders and real ales and the wine list even features a Devon white wine and a sparkling white from Cornwall.
