Hotels, Guest accommodation & Self Catering in March
March is a market town with links back to Roman times, set amongst the Fenlands of Cambridgeshire. Like many Fenland towns, March was once an island surrounded by marshes. There is a fabulous church with an impressive roof carved with a host of angels. The River Nene runs through the town, and the narrow boats and other pleasure craft sail along with the swans and ducks. The river makes a perfect subject for artists. In March town centre, there are independent shops and high street retailers, as well as an out-of-town retail park. The centre has several cafes, bars and restaurants. The March and District Museum has three Victorian room settings, including a kitchen, parlour and nursery, plus a wealth of railway memorabilia. Outside, is a replica of a Fenland Cottage. At Nearby Stonea Camp, is an Iron Age multivallate hill fort situated on a gravel bank just 2 metres above sea-level. It is the lowest hill fort in Britain.
