Market Rasen is a charming and bustling market town on the western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The town is known for its racecourse. Market Rasen lies on the main road between Lincoln and Grimsby and is on the National Cycle Route. It was also the first town in Lincolnshire to achieve 'Walkers are Welcome' status and there are great walks and trails around the town and surrounding area. The River Rase flows through Market Rasen and the town centre has mainly Georgian and Victorian architecture centred on a market place with a Medieval church. There are a great range of independent shops along the main street. Market days are Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Market Rasen Racecourse is a National Hunt racecourse in the town. Nearby, the villages of Tealby has the Kings Head pub, which is the oldest thatched pub in Lincolnshire; and Walesby, home of All Saints, also known as The Ramblers Church, overlooking the village.
